True North is a bespoke multi-day leadership team intervention designed for senior leadership groups that need to move from functional alignment to genuine collective ownership of vision, strategy, and execution. The programme takes its name from the idea that every leadership team needs a fixed navigational reference, a True North that holds constant even as the terrain, the headwinds, and the competitive environment shift beneath it.

About This Intervention

What True North Is and Why It Works

The design challenge in senior leadership alignment is not strategy formulation. It is the translation of strategic intent into collective leadership identity, shared operating principles, and visible team behaviour. If an organisation could get all its diverse people pulling in the same direction, it could outperform any competitor in any market. The barrier is rarely capability. It is alignment at the top. True North is the intervention that makes that translation.

True North is fully bespoke. The architecture, the choice of simulations, the REEL|Life film, the facilitation approach, and the outputs are designed specifically for each client leadership team following a pre-programme diagnosis. The standard structure is two days, but the intervention can extend to three days for teams requiring deeper work on trust, alignment, or cultural integration.

Intervention Architecture

Six Instruments. One Operating Model.

Every instrument in True North produces debrief material that feeds directly into the leadership operating model the team co-creates. Nothing is standalone. Everything connects to the shared output the team owns after the intervention.

Corporate Maze™ PathFinderZ Simulation

Day 1 opens with the Corporate Maze™ floor simulation, in which the leadership team attempts to navigate a minefield as two groups with restricted information and no shared protocol. Surfaces collaboration defaults, communication patterns, leadership emergence under pressure, and trust behaviours in a physical, real-time environment that creates precise and credible debrief material for the alignment work that follows.

ChangeQuest™ Simulation

A ProventusHR floor simulation exploring strategic change leadership, coalition-building, and the team's collective orientation toward risk, innovation, and ambiguity management. Gives the leadership team a shared physical experience of leading change together rather than as a collection of functional leaders, generating a shared reference point for the alignment dialogue.

Circle of Life: Raising the Bar

A physical activity in which participants pass a hula hoop while standing in a circle, raising the difficulty through successive rounds. Surfaces risk orientation, the willingness to accept challenge, and the team's relationship with high performance standards. Used as a calibration exercise for a leadership team dialogue on collective ambition and what raising the bar actually requires.

REEL|Life™ (Film Selected for Context)

ProventusHR's cinematic reflection methodology applied to a film selected specifically for each client team's strategic challenge, cultural theme, or leadership dynamic. Films used in True North engagements examine alignment, mission clarity, courage under pressure, and trust in high-stakes environments. The debrief produces an emotionally anchored shared narrative for the team's own operating story.

Vision-to-Execution Workshop

A facilitated working session that translates the team's alignment insights into structured output: a shared leadership operating model capturing agreed principles, operating norms, decision rights, and execution commitments. This document becomes the True North reference for the team's behaviour going forward and is reviewed at every eConnect session.

eConnects and Post-Workshop Coaching

True North includes a series of post-workshop eConnect sessions and optional individual or team coaching, ensuring that the alignment work does not dissipate after the intervention. The eConnect cadence reviews progress against the leadership operating model, surfaces emerging tensions, and sustains the momentum of the alignment work into the team's live operating rhythm.

When Is True North Needed

The Leadership Team Conditions This Addresses

Newly formed or restructured leadership teams that are functionally capable but have not yet developed a shared operating identity or genuine collective ownership

Leadership teams navigating a strategic pivot, post-merger integration, or major organisational change where alignment at the top is the prerequisite for successful cascade

Teams where functional silos, competing priorities, or trust deficits are limiting cross-functional execution despite individual member capability

Organisations where the leadership team's operating dynamic is not visible enough to the next layer, creating inconsistent cascades of direction, values, and decision-making standards

Teams that have tried conventional team-building and found that morale improves during the event but operating dynamics do not change after it

What Shifts at 30 and 90 Days

The True North operating model is live and referenced in at least one strategic review within 30 days, with shared language and principles named and held to

Cross-functional collaboration increases, visible in joint initiative launches, shared accountability for outcomes, and reduced siloed reporting to the CEO

The team's collective risk orientation and innovation appetite shift, visible in how strategic ambiguity is discussed and decided at the leadership level

External stakeholders observe and name a more consistent, coherent, and credible leadership team identity at 90 days

Team Outcomes

What the Team Takes Away

Named outputs from the intervention design document. Kirkpatrick Level 3 measurement is standard on every engagement.

True North Operating Model: A co-created document capturing the team's agreed principles, operating norms, decision rights, and execution commitments. Reviewed at every eConnect session and updated as the team's context evolves.

Simulation Debrief Insights: Individual and collective insights from the Corporate Maze™ and ChangeQuest™ simulations, providing a precise and shared map of the team's current operating defaults, collaboration patterns, and the specific shifts required.

Shared Leadership Narrative: The REEL|Life debrief produces a shared emotional and narrative reference for the team's collective operating story, which becomes a non-threatening but precise anchor for conversations about the team's direction and identity.

eConnect and Coaching Schedule: A structured post-workshop sustainment calendar including eConnect sessions, optional individual coaching for team members, and a 90-day operating model review that ensures the alignment work compounds rather than dissipates.

Frequently Asked

True North is a multi-day bespoke experiential intervention for senior leadership teams that need to align around a shared vision, operating philosophy, and collective ownership structure. It uses Corporate Maze™ and ChangeQuest™ floor simulations, REEL|Life cinematic reflection, and structured facilitated dialogue to produce a shared leadership operating model.

Corporate Maze™ (PathFinderZ variant) is a floor simulation in which the leadership team navigates a minefield under time pressure with restricted information. It surfaces the team's collaboration patterns, communication defaults, leadership emergence under pressure, and trust behaviours in a physical environment that generates credible, specific debrief material for the alignment work that follows.

ChangeQuest™ is a ProventusHR floor simulation exploring strategic change leadership, coalition-building, and the team's collective orientation toward risk and innovation. It gives the leadership team a shared physical experience of leading change together, which becomes a reference point for the facilitated alignment and operating philosophy dialogue.

Fully bespoke. The duration, simulation selection, REEL|Life film, facilitation approach, pre-programme diagnostic, and final operating model output are all designed specifically for each client team. The standard structure is two days, but can extend for teams requiring deeper trust work or cultural integration.

Senior leadership teams, C-suite, SLT, and functional heads that need to strengthen collective alignment, trust, and shared accountability for executing a strategic agenda. Particularly relevant for newly formed teams, teams going through restructuring, and teams where silos are limiting cross-functional execution.

A co-created True North operating model documenting shared principles, operating norms, decision rights, and execution commitments; individual and collective debrief insights from the simulations; and a post-workshop eConnect and coaching schedule sustaining the alignment work.

True North is ProventusHR's bespoke multi-day experiential intervention for leadership teams navigating a major strategic or cultural transition. It aligns vision, strategy, and execution through Corporate Maze simulation, ChangeQuest, REEL|Life, and structured leadership dialogue. The programme closes with a co-created alignment document defining shared direction and operating commitments.
