The Innovation Blueprint is a one to two-day programme for leaders who need to navigate, enable, and lead innovation in environments that reward incremental thinking and resist disruption. Most leaders understand that innovation is necessary. Few have the shared language, the leadership traits, and the human dynamics capability to actually move from idea to traction inside an organisation that was designed to execute, not experiment.
Duration
1 to 2 Days
Primary Audience
Business Leaders, Innovation Leads, Transformation Teams
Delivery
In-person, cohort of up to 30
The programme moves through five structured parts. Part 1 examines the changing leadership landscape and what disruption actually demands from leaders who sit above the operational layer. Part 2 builds the four traits of an innovation leader: an exponential mindset, innovative solutioning, inclusive decisioning, and collaborative execution. Part 3 examines the human dynamics of leading innovation: the five specific leadership behaviours that determine whether innovation moves from idea to traction or dies in the system.
Part 4 is the REEL|Life™: Moneyball immersion, ProventusHR's cinematic reflection methodology applied to a film that examines how a leader challenges legacy assumptions with evidence, builds conviction under sustained organisational resistance, and drives adoption by forming coalitions rather than imposing mandates. Part 5 closes with the Innovation Action Canvas, each participant's personal innovation leap translated into a specific, accountable 30-60-90 day commitment.
The programme moves from the world to the leader to the human dynamics of change to the cinematic case study to the personal innovation commitment. No teach-down. Every session is experiential, high-energy, and dialogue-driven.
The Changing World and Leadership Shift
The opening module maps what disruption actually demands from leaders above the operational layer. Participants examine the specific ways their industry, their function, and their leadership identity need to shift to lead effectively in an exponential environment. Includes the interactive activity What's Disrupting Your Industry? and the Leader of Innovation Future Framework.
Four Traits of an Innovation Leader
Exponential Mindset (thinking at scale rather than scope), Innovative Solutioning (reframing problems from the outside in using empathy-led design), Inclusive Decisioning (tapping collective intelligence), and Collaborative Execution (building cross-functional coalitions to move from idea to traction). Each trait is built through structured activities and self-assessment.
REEL|Life™: Moneyball
ProventusHR's cinematic reflection methodology applied to a film examining how a leader challenges legacy assumptions with evidence, builds conviction under sustained organisational resistance, and drives adoption by forming coalitions rather than imposing mandates. Debrief connects film dynamics to each participant's specific innovation challenge and anticipated resistance.
Innovation Action Canvas
The programme's closing instrument. Each participant defines their personal innovation leap: the specific change they are committing to, the leadership trait shifts required, the resistance they anticipate, and the 30-60-90 day milestones they will use to measure progress. Shared with the group for peer review and accountability.
The REEL|Life: Moneyball debrief is structured around these five human dynamics. Each is examined first in the film, then mapped directly to the participant's live innovation challenge and the specific obstacles they face.
01
Define the Problem
Challenge the default framing. Restate the problem in ways that open new solutions rather than reinforce existing constraints.
02
Identify Possibilities
Break from established patterns and strategies. Look for ideas and approaches that would not have been considered in the previous paradigm.
03
Build a Coalition
Convince, convert, and create champions. Influence without authority requires deliberate coalition-building across groups with competing interests.
04
Manage Resources
Use constraints as creative levers. Limited budgets, teams, or time are not reasons to stop. They are conditions to design around.
05
Execute with Agility
Test, adapt, and raise the performance bar. Bold execution is not recklessness. It is disciplined iteration with conviction.
Leaders who can articulate the need for innovation but cannot create the conditions inside their organisation for it to happen
Organisations where incremental thinking is rewarded and disruptive ideas are killed before they reach decision-making level
The absence of a shared innovation language that allows leaders to move from idea to coalition to execution without constant translation
Leaders who confuse innovation activity, hackathons, ideation sessions, and innovation labs, with innovation leadership
Teams where individual brilliance exists but the human dynamics of leading change, coalition building, managing resistance, sustaining conviction, are underdeveloped
From incremental thinking to an exponential mindset: leading at scale rather than managing at scope
From innovation as activity to innovation as a leadership standard with observable behaviours and measurable commitments
From leading by positional mandate to leading by coalition, evidence, and sustained conviction under resistance
From aspiration to commitment: leaving with a specific innovation leap defined, accountable, and tracked at 30 and 90 days
These are the named outcomes from the programme design document. Commitments are signed at close and tracked at 30 and 90 days. Kirkpatrick Level 3 measurement is standard on every engagement.
Strategic Foresight: Leaders move from tactical execution to systems thinking and scenario-based problem framing. They build two to three plausible futures for their business context and define the no-regret moves that apply across all of them.
Innovation Mindset: Leaders build the courage to experiment, iterate, and scale. Each participant identifies one to two specific capability shifts using the Leader of Innovation Future Framework and commits to observable behaviour changes tracked at 30 and 90 days.
Coalition Leadership: Leaders apply the human dynamics of innovation to build buy-in and lead without authority. They leave with a specific coalition map for their innovation challenge, identifying who needs to be moved, from which position to which, and by which leadership approach.
Innovation Action Canvas: Each participant defines a specific, accountable innovation leap with named leadership trait shifts, anticipated resistance, and a 30-60-90 day milestone plan. The canvas becomes the post-programme accountability reference reviewed with a peer partner.
Every ProventusHR programme is designed bespoke to your organisation’s context. No two engagements are identical.
Explore Leadership Capability ›The Innovation Action Canvas is the programme's closing instrument. Each participant defines their personal innovation leap, the specific change they are committing to, the key leadership trait shifts required, the obstacles they anticipate, and the 30-60-90 day milestones they will use to measure progress. The canvas is shared with the group for peer review and accountability.
REEL|Life is ProventusHR's cinematic reflection methodology. In The Innovation Blueprint, Moneyball is used to examine how a leader challenges legacy assumptions with evidence, builds conviction under sustained organisational resistance, and drives adoption by forming coalitions rather than imposing mandates. The debrief connects film dynamics to each participant's specific innovation challenge.
Leaders who are responsible for driving innovation within their teams or organisations but are operating in environments that resist change, reward incremental thinking, or lack the shared language to move from idea to execution. Particularly relevant for business unit heads, product leaders, transformation leads, and leaders navigating a shift from operational management to innovation leadership.
Exponential Mindset (thinking at scale rather than scope), Innovative Solutioning (reframing problems from the outside in), Inclusive Decisioning (tapping collective intelligence rather than relying on positional authority), and Collaborative Execution (building cross-functional coalitions to move from idea to impact).
A completed Innovation Action Canvas with a defined personal innovation leap and 30-60-90 day milestones, a personal leadership profile against the four innovation traits, a REEL|Life Moneyball debrief toolkit, and a peer accountability partner for the post-programme commitment period.
Yes. The Innovation Blueprint is most powerful when run for a cohort that shares an innovation challenge. The Innovation Action Canvas becomes a shared planning document as well as an individual commitment tool, and the coalition mapping work produces immediate, applicable outputs for the team's specific context.
The Innovation Blueprint is ProventusHR's leadership programme on innovation mindset and execution. Using an exponential mindset framework, human dynamics tools, and REEL|Life: Moneyball, leaders examine how innovation actually happens in organisations - not as a creative spark but as a structured leadership practice. The programme builds the specific behaviours that create innovation-enabling conditions in teams.
