The Design Principle

The decisions that most need practice carry the most risk. A business unit leader cannot rehearse a major resource reallocation on a live portfolio. A change sponsor cannot practise the sequencing of a transformation on their actual organisation. Computer Simulations create the environment where they can, without the consequences following them back to their desk on Monday.

Participants navigate a constructed business world with market dynamics, competitor behaviour, financial reporting, stakeholder reaction, and team conflict, over multiple rounds. Every decision produces data. The data feeds back into the simulation and into the debrief. The debrief is not a review of the score. It is a structured examination of the decision patterns the data reveals and what those patterns say about how each participant leads.

This is the critical distinction between a Computer Simulation and a business game. A business game produces a winner. A Computer Simulation produces insight. The score is the least important output of the day.
