The transition from individual contributor to people leader is the most commonly under-designed moment in organisations. ProventusHR builds it as a sustained journey.

ProventusHR designs first time manager training as a sustained multi-module journey through LEAP Emerging Leaders. Individual contributors making the transition to people leadership need a six to nine month architecture with structured simulation, 30-day behavioural experiments, manager accountability, and stakeholder-verified evidence of the capability shift.
Most first time manager training delivers frameworks: situational leadership, feedback models, delegation matrices. Leaders learn the model, return to the same instincts within two weeks. The individual rewarded for personal technical output has not yet shifted identity to enabler of others. That shift requires encounter, observation, and deliberate practice across real situations over time.
LEAP Emerging Leaders is designed for this reality. Six to nine months, five modules, 30-day behavioural experiments between each module applied in the participant's live role, coaching connects, manager accountability conversations, and a Self Impact Showcase at close in which the participant presents stakeholder-rated evidence of the leadership behaviour change. Not a workshop certificate. A documented transition.
Four design principles make LEAP Emerging Leaders produce a genuine leadership transition rather than a training event.
Experience Before Instruction
Every LEAP module opens with a simulation that surfaces the first-time manager's default pattern before any framework is introduced. The leader encounters the management situation first, observes their own response, then receives the model. This sequence produces retention that instruction-first design cannot achieve.
30-Day Behavioural Experiments
Between every module, each participant commits to a specific behaviour change applied to a real management situation in their live role. The next module opens with accountability: the situation, the behaviour applied, the outcome observed. Learning becomes indistinguishable from working.
Manager Accountability Architecture
The reporting manager of every LEAP participant completes a pre-programme goal-setting conversation and a 90-day co-signing of the Self Impact Showcase. The manager is not an observer. The manager is a design element.
Self Impact Showcase
At programme close, each participant presents stakeholder-rated evidence of leadership behaviour change to a panel that includes their own manager. Evidence must name the situation, the behaviour applied, and the business outcome produced. Manager-verified documentation of the transition.
New managers who continue doing the technical work themselves rather than enabling their team, creating bottlenecks and limiting team capability growth
Performance conversations avoided or delivered so late and so softly that the team member does not understand what needs to change
Team members who disengage because the manager has not yet learned to create the conditions for development and psychological safety
Attrition from teams led by technically strong but people-poor first-time managers, with management quality cited as the primary reason for departure
Talent identified for rapid promotion who plateau at the first leadership level because the identity shift was never designed and never happened
What LEAP Emerging Leaders Produces
Managers who lead through their team rather than instead of it: delegation, development, and accountability as practised disciplines
Specific, timely, behaviour-focused feedback as a daily management practice, not an event reserved for the annual review cycle
Psychological safety in the team: a manager whose response to problems is curiosity rather than blame, creating conditions where people surface issues early
Documented 90-day evidence of leadership behaviour change, co-signed by the manager, ready for talent review and succession planning conversations
A cohort of first-time managers at the same transition point, creating peer accountability and shared learning that individual development cannot replicate

Explore ›First time manager training addresses a specific transition: from individual contributor to people leader. The capability required at this level is categorically different from what produced success as an individual. Generic leadership programmes address leadership broadly. First time manager development addresses the identity shift, the instinct recalibration, and the specific behaviours that either make or break the transition. ProventusHR designs LEAP Emerging Leaders exclusively for this transition.
ProventusHR designs LEAP Emerging Leaders as a six to nine month journey. A two-day workshop produces awareness. A six to nine month journey produces behaviour change. The inter-module period, with 30-day experiments and coaching connects, is where the actual development occurs. The module days provide the diagnostic and the framework. The weeks between modules provide the practice that builds the habit.
The optimal timing is within the first 60 to 90 days of the first people leadership appointment. This is the period of highest learning readiness and highest habit-formation opportunity. Managers who receive structured development in the first three months build the right leadership instincts from the start. Those who receive it 18 months later must first unlearn established patterns before building replacements.
The reporting manager of every participant completes two structured conversations: a pre-programme goal-setting conversation naming the specific leadership behaviours that must change, and a 90-day post-programme review co-signing the Self Impact Showcase confirming whether those behaviours changed and documenting the business outcomes. The manager is accountable for the development as well as the participant.
LEAP Emerging Leaders is always designed for a single organisation. ProventusHR does not offer open cohort formats. Every scenario, case study, and simulation is built from the client organisation's leadership context. Open cohort training limits candour, dilutes specificity, and prevents the organisational accountability architecture that makes development stick.
ProventusHR measures LEAP Emerging Leaders outcomes at Kirkpatrick Level 3 through stakeholder-rated behaviour change at 90 days. Every participant documents specific management situations in the Self Impact Showcase: the situation, the leadership behaviour applied, and the outcome produced. The document is co-signed by the participant's manager. At programme level, the consolidated Showcase provides the CHRO with a portfolio-level view of behaviour change and business impact across the cohort.
ProventusHR delivers first time manager programmes across India and internationally. In-person delivery is recommended for simulation modules. Virtual continuity sessions are designed for coaching and accountability connects between modules for geographically distributed cohorts. LEAP Emerging Leaders has been delivered in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, and in the Gulf and South East Asia.
