ProventusHR is a Leading Bespoke Leadership Advisory that designs experiential programmes producing measurable behaviour change in first-time managers. The LEAP Emerging Leaders journey is built specifically for the individual contributor to manager transition. Behaviour change is measured at 90 days through manager-co-signed Self Impact Showcases. Across LEAP cohorts, 100 percent of participants produced manager-signed evidence. Nine Brandon Hall HCM Excellence Awards from 2022 to 2025 independently validate the methodology and its outcomes.
The first-time manager transition is not a knowledge problem. Most people promoted into management have watched managers for years. They know what delegation looks like. They can describe feedback models. They understand the theory of developing others. None of this knowledge transfers automatically into new behaviour, because their existing behaviour was built over years of being rewarded for doing things differently.
A first-time manager who was an exceptional individual contributor was rewarded, consistently, for solving problems personally. For being the expert. For working longer and harder than anyone around them. Those behaviours are reinforced at a neurological level. A two-day workshop that explains why they should delegate does not compete with that reinforcement history.
What produces behavioural change in this context is experience that makes the old pattern visible, followed by structured practice of the new one in real situations, followed by measurement that holds the change accountable. This is what ExperienceLearning is designed to produce. And it is what LEAP Emerging Leaders is built to deliver.
Each LEAP module targets a specific behaviour cluster in the IC-to-manager transition. Modules run monthly. Between each module, participants complete a structured on-the-job application sprint in their real workplace.
Module 1: Protagonist
Leading self with clarity and purpose. Participants examine the identity shift from individual contributor to leader, the assumptions they carry about what good management looks like, and the specific moments where those assumptions cost them. Application sprint: one conversation where they led from purpose rather than position.
Module 2: Nurturer
Developing others through delegation and honest feedback. The floor simulation puts participants in a scenario where they must achieve results only through others, with no direct execution available to them. Application sprint: one structured delegation with a development intent, reviewed at the next module.
Module 3: Maverick
Building psychological safety and enabling innovation in the team. REEL|Life cinematic session surfaces the conditions under which people speak up and go silent. Application sprint: one team conversation where the manager created the conditions for a dissenting view to be heard.
Module 4: Campaigner
Building stakeholder trust and influencing without positional authority. Computer simulation places participants inside a resource negotiation across competing stakeholders with no formal power over the outcome. Application sprint: one stakeholder relationship mapped and one action taken to build it.
Module 5: Sentinel
Business acumen and execution discipline. Participants engage a business simulation requiring them to make resource allocation decisions under time and commercial pressure. Application sprint: one operating decision made with commercial framing, reviewed with their reporting manager.
Module 6: Keystone
Resilience, empowerment, and culture ownership. Participants articulate the culture they are building, the leadership legacy they want to leave, and the two or three behaviours they are committing to sustaining. The Self Impact Showcase commitments are written here and measured at 90 days.
High-performing individual contributors promoted into management who are still doing the work themselves six months later
New managers who attended a two-day programme, found it useful, and returned to exactly the same operating pattern the following week
Team members of new managers reporting that nothing has changed in how they are being led, despite their manager attending a leadership programme
L&D teams with no evidence to show for first-time manager investment beyond attendance records and satisfaction scores
Attrition in the teams of new managers who were not adequately supported through the transition
What LEAP Emerging Leaders Produces
Named, observable behaviour shifts documented at 90 days and co-signed by the reporting manager
Managers who have practised delegation, feedback, and influence in real situations over four to six months, not in a one-day simulation
Team members of LEAP graduates reporting measurable differences in how they are being led
An L&D evidence file with specific outcomes, named managers, and reporting manager co-signatures
A cohort of managers who share a leadership language and reference built over months of shared experience
Measurable behaviour change in first-time managers requires a programme designed around the specific behavioural shift needed, on-the-job application between modules, and 90-day measurement through a manager-co-signed evidence document. ProventusHR's LEAP Emerging Leaders journey is built on all three principles and has produced a 100 percent manager-signed evidence rate across cohorts.
Most programmes treat the transition as a knowledge gap. It is not. The new manager already knows what good management looks like. The gap is behavioural: they have spent years being rewarded for doing things themselves. That habit does not change through instruction. It changes through structured experience that makes the old pattern visible, followed by real-world practice over time.
The individual contributor to manager transition is the most underestimated leadership transition in organisations. Every instinct that made the person excellent as an individual contributor, including solving problems directly, being the expert, and executing personally, can become a liability as a manager. The transition requires an identity shift, not a skills workshop. ProventusHR designs LEAP Emerging Leaders specifically around this shift.
Every LEAP Emerging Leaders participant completes a Self Impact Showcase at 90 days. The document records the specific behaviour changed, the real business situation in which it was applied, the observable outcome, and the reporting manager co-signature confirming the change. ProventusHR has a 100 percent manager-signed evidence rate across LEAP cohorts.
LEAP Emerging Leaders runs four to six months with monthly modules. The 90-day measurement period begins after the final module. Total engagement from start to evidence is typically seven to eight months, long enough for genuine habit change to consolidate rather than revert.
LEAP Emerging Leaders targets six behaviour clusters: leading self with purpose, nurturing team performance through delegation, building psychological safety, managing stakeholders with influence, operating with business acumen, and building resilience while empowering others. Each module targets one cluster through experiential design, not instruction.

Every ProventusHR engagement begins with a diagnostic conversation. The measurement architecture is built in from the first design session, not added at the end.
